The Lawaetz Foundation:
Helping people to help themselves

In 1986 the Johann Daniel Lawaetz Foundation was founded by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg as a charitable foundation of civil law to apply different methods in various areas of responsibility concerning labour market-, social-, and town-planning policy. As an intermediary organization, we are the connecting link between our customers, on the one hand, and the political and administrative field on the other.

Our guiding principle is helping people to help themselves: we activate the potential of people, groups and neighbourhoods to help and organize themselves. Our advisory and consulting services are based on our customers' requirements. For this purpose we use existing development programs as an opportunity for new projects.
